About me and my practice
Finding a counsellor who understands your way of experiencing the world can make a real difference. At Clear Path Counselling Somerset, I offer a supportive, collaborative space where you can talk openly, at your own pace, without pressure to mask or fit a particular idea of how counselling should work.
I offer online counselling to people across the UK, alongside in-person appointments in Street, near Glastonbury, Somerset. I work with adults and young people aged 16 and over, including autistic, ADHD and otherwise neurodivergent people, those exploring possible neurodivergence or a late identification, and those who do not have a formal diagnosis.
People often come to me feeling exhausted by masking, autistic or neurodivergent burnout, sensory or emotional overwhelm, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, identity questions or major life changes. Sometimes the starting point is simply a longstanding sense of being different, misunderstood or stuck.
My approach is integrative, person-centred, trauma-informed and body-aware. We can adapt how we work to your communication style, processing time, sensory preferences and emotional needs. There is no requirement to make eye contact, find the right words immediately or follow a rigid session format.
Alongside reflective conversation, we may explore how experiences are held in the body, patterns of stress and self-protection, and creative or symbolic approaches when these feel right for you. My aim is not to change who you are but to help you understand your experiences, recognise your needs and move towards greater self-acceptance.
I offer a free 20-minute online introductory consultation so we can explore whether working together feels right.
Experience
I have worked in private counselling practice since 2021 and have completed more than 2,000 hours of client work. I support adults and young people aged 16+ with anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, identity and belonging, neurodivergence and significant life transitions.
My experience includes counselling work with Wessex Counselling and Psychotherapy Trust, and previous voluntary roles connected with Somerset and Wessex Eating Disorders Association (SWEDA) and Sweet Track. These settings have broadened my understanding of how emotional distress, relationships, self-worth and experiences of being misunderstood can affect people in different ways.
I work particularly with clients who identify as autistic, ADHD or otherwise neurodivergent, including people dealing with masking, autistic or neurodivergent burnout, sensory sensitivity, late identification and the pressure to meet other people's expectations. My practice is neurodiversity-affirming, recognising the individual rather than treating neurodivergence as something to correct.
I have undertaken ongoing professional development in trauma-informed counselling, attachment, safeguarding and approaches to working with complex emotional experiences. I receive regular clinical supervision, maintain professional insurance and work within the BACP Ethical Framework.
My aim is to offer grounded, compassionate therapy that allows each client to feel heard, respected and increasingly able to make sense of their own experience.
